Steel Speed was proud to be selected for the complete assembly and installation of the new baghouses for the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) project at Algoma Steel. Our scope of work included the full mechanical, structural and electrical installation of both Baghouses #1 and #2, delivering a fully integrated, turnkey system for our client.
These baghouses are a critical part of the EAF process, ensuring environmental compliance by capturing and filtering emissions produced during steelmaking. Steel Speed’s responsibilities covered the structural erection, assembly, alignment, and connection of all major components, as well as the installation of axial cyclone ductwork, abatement systems, catwalks, stair towers, ladders, platforms, instrumentation, power systems, and control wiring.
This system included two twin stacks towering over each baghouse at a total height of 230 feet and 20 feet in diameter.
Steel Speed ensured seamless coordination, quality control, and project efficiency — delivering reliable performance for one of Canada’s largest steel producers without any delay to mill operations.
